It appears that Vice President Biden’s prediction that President Obama will be tested early in his term will come to fruition.  Bear in mind that every president is tested by international actors such as Bush 2’s China spy plane crisis in early 2001.  Once again, North Korea is flexing its muscle by preparing a missile launch next month.  This would be funny if it was not so serious.  Pyongyang claims its looking to develop its space program.  A space program for a country that is mostly poverty stricken except for the political leaders and military?  A space program for a country that cannot feed its own people and relies on donations from the UN and its historical enemies:  South Korea and the United States?  A space program for a country that threatens the armistice that has held two nations at relative peace for over fifty years?  Call me a skeptic, but I highly doubt Pyongyang’s intentions are purely scientific.   Nations looking for nuclear weapons are looking for respect from the West, but its hard to respect someone who cannot feed its own people while positioning itself for total war.  My tip to Kim Jong-il:  feed your people first and work on infrastructure, then start sabre rattling.  I’m kidding on the sabre rattling.
